About this campground

Ivy Creek Campground is a remote, rustic camping facility nestled in the Rio Grande National Forest, approximately 16 miles southwest of Creede, Colorado. This small, lightly-used campground offers 4 developed sites along the scenic Ivy Creek, surrounded by open grassland and mountain views. Sites 1 and 2 can accommodate small trailers or tents with a maximum spur length of 25 feet, while sites 3 and 4 are tent-only and accessed via a footbridge across Ivy Creek from the parking area. Each campsite is equipped with a picnic table and fire ring. The campground features a vault toilet but no potable water, trash service, or firewood, requiring campers to be self-sufficient.

The area has been impacted by spruce beetle damage, resulting in tree removal that has altered the landscape appearance. Ivy Creek Campground doubles as the Ivy Creek Trailhead, with parking for trailhead users located outside the fenced campground area. The trailhead includes hitching rails and space for horse trailers. Ivy Creek Trail #805 begins here and offers the quickest route to Goose Lake and eventually connects to the Continental Divide Trail. The campground is accessed via a narrow, rough forest road (FR 526) that is unsuitable for large RVs and trailers, making this destination best suited for tent campers, small popup trailers, and those seeking a more primitive camping experience.
