The Dower House

Based on customers’ opinions and their experiences whilst staying at the Dower House, this award is especially important to us, not only as it means we are protecting our valuable surrounding countryside, but also that our campers appreciate this. A real honour!We look forward to welcoming you to The Dower House Touring Park this season, and remember, with fewer but larger pitches it is important to book early!FacilitiesWe pride ourselves in the amenities we offer our guests on the site. These include a well stocked shop for provisions, toys and gifts. An information centre, holding information on local attractions and on site activities to help you make the most of your stay in Norfolk. Many pitches are provided with electrical hook-ups and are set in picturesque grounds surrounded by mature trees such as oak, beech, pine and chestnut.The on site pub, The Travellers Rest, has an adjoining TV/Pool room and for those wishing to cool off or just make a splash we have an ever popular swimming pool. A childrens' activity area with log play equipment is set among oak trees also has a badminton / volley ball net and benches for watching parents to relax and chat.Home necessities include modern shower and toilet blocks, with a baby wash/changing room, a laundry room and even a freezer for ice blocks!. For those within your group who drew the short straw, our dish washing room will ensure your task is a breeze! Also a childs' play area always proves popular with plenty of room for ball play, cricket and scoring goals!Facilities for the disabled are also a top priority and include especially adapted wash room and shower room. We also have five pitches for people with disabilities, close to the main amenities (such as water), linked by a path and with the option of electrical hook-up.A warm welcome awaits our guests at The Travellers Rest, the Dower House's very own on site pub. With all the warmth and friendliness of an old country inn, you can relax either inside by the log fire, or outside on those sunnier days in our large garden. An ever popular activity is provided with our site swimming and paddling pool, for all who want to cool off and make a splash!For those wishing to be close to nature the 20 acres of grass land in which the park is set give you plenty to explore. There are walks and cycle paths that lead from the park into the heart of the forest in all directions, allowing the chance of glimpses of deer and other wild life in their natural unspoilt habitat..DirectionsFrom Thetford take the A1066 east towards Diss. After 5 miles fork left where it's signed "East Harling" & "Camping". After 2 miles.the site entrance is on the left. Look out for our name board.The post code is NR16 2SE but please beware if using satellite navigation as it covers a large area of the forest and we aren't it's center. So don't turn off into the forest unless the track has our roadside name board at it's head.
