Well. You might not know where to start with the top options abounding at luxury sustainable site Swinton Bivouac near Masham in the Yorkshire Dales. Outdoor hot tub – tick. Carefully crafted woodland and hillside accommodation so pretty it'll likely make your eyes water – tick. Meals delivered direct to the door – tick tick and another, very big, tick. All these ticky things are on the bivouac’s rustic site in the Swinton Park Estate, 20,000 acres of spectacular scenery in the Yorkshire Dales, running from the River Ure and market town of Masham in Wensleydale up to the Yorkshire Dales National Park.

It's close to the fably odd Druids’ Temple too, a well-known local landmark and 19th-century folly built by local writer William Danby as his (somewhat optimistic) answer to Stonehenge. Swinton Bivouac’s café also deserves a huge tick: it has a family den underneath leading to a walled garden, views down to the valley from the patio, and is open late on Friday and Saturday nights for meals and drinks. And the sign leading to it says ‘muddy boots welcome’, which is obviously the best type of café ever. Tick…
