It does however boast a links golf course (regarded as one of the top 100 in the world) and a lovely curving beach. Bram Stoker was a regular visitor and above the village is the remains of Slains castle - reputed to be his inspiration for Count Dracula's castle.It is an attractive village lying on the North East coastal trail and within easy distance of the castle and whisky trails. Within the village there is a variety of shops including newsagents, grocers, post office and chemist. All three hotels in the village offer a selection of food. Only a few miles down the road is Peterhead, a large coastal town which offers a large variety of shops, restaurants, supermarkets, and some attractions.
