About this campground

Here at Common End Farm we offer self catering holiday accommodation and camping & caravan facilities. The self catering accommodation is offered in the Old Barn, a converted traditional stone hay barn over 250 years old. It is self contained and fully equipped to accommodate 14/15 guests. The camping field is to the rear of the barn and farmhouse overlooking surrounding fields and with some views reaching across to Thorpe Cloud and Dovedale. With electric hookups available and separate male and female toilet and shower facilities you can enjoy the delights of the outdoors with a few essential comforts and facilities.

Set in 20 acres of pastureland and surrounded by the beautiful scenery of the Peak District, the site provides a quiet and rural location and an ideal base from which visitors, walkers and cyclists can explore the surrounding area, villages and attractions. Its central location means that everyone can reach us easily whichever end of the country they are travelling from.The historic market town of Ashbourne is 3 miles to the east. Alton Towers is 5 miles to the west. The Tissington and Manifold cycle trails are within 3 miles with Dovedale only a 2 mile walk using the network of public footpaths which run adjacent to the site. The village pub is within walking distance and offers an extensive food and drink menu catering for all ages.CampingCommon End Farm is a small, camping and caravan site on a gently sloping 1.8 acre grassed site. Overlooking surrounding fields and with views reaching across to Thorpe Cloud and Dovedale provides a quiet and rural setting from which to explore the surrounding countryside and villages of the southern Peak District National Park. The site is open from Easter to October.A separate area is available for rallies.Facilities on site:• 30 pitches• 8 electric hook-up points• Drinking water tap• Chemical toilet disposal point (we only accept green fluid – available to purchase on arrival)• Refuse & recycling bins• Pot washing area incl. chest freezer for ice packs (no charge)• Sympathetically converted traditional stone barn housing modern ladies and gents toilets and showers• Hairdryer provided in the mens and ladies• 28 day pitch stays available* there is no additional charge for showers or hot water in the pot washing areaWe welcome small groups by prior arrangement and Duke of Edinburgh award scheme studentsLocal AreaThe location of the barn provides an ideal location from which to explore the surrounding area throughout both our neighbouring counties of Derbyshire and Staffordshire. Within a short drive from the barn are a large number of historic houses and stately homes and gardens. For the more adventurous there are available a range of outdoor pursuits from climbing, caving, hang gliding, and water sports. For families, the area offers theme parks, museums and adventure activities. If you’re looking for relaxation and pampering visit the local beauticians or health spa facilities.
