Woods Lake Campground is nestled in a dense aspen forest at approximately 9,400 feet elevation next to Woods Lake in the Uncompahgre National Forest. The facility features 41 campsites distributed across three distinct loops. The main loop includes a group site, 4 double sites, and convenient pull-through sites suitable for larger RVs. The specialized horse loop contains 5 equestrian sites with amenities including 5 paddocks, 2 hay racks, watering troughs, pull-through sites, and a large parking area ideal for horse trailers that also serves as the Woods Lake Trailhead. The campground is an excellent base camp for outdoor enthusiasts.

Hikers and equestrians can access the Lizard Head Wilderness via the Lone Cone Trail or Woods Lake Trail, while mountain bikers and motorcyclists can reach the Wilson Mesa Trail just 0.5 miles from the campground. Fishing opportunities are within walking distance at Woods Lake. The area is surrounded by dramatic mountain views of the Lizard Head Wilderness, and the campground is particularly stunning in fall when the aspen trees display their golden foliage. The full-service community of Telluride is located about 8 miles east, providing convenient access to supplies and services.
