About this campground

GREAT DEALS FOR A COSY SPRING BREAK WE ARE NOW TAKING BOOKINGS FOR SUMMER 2014!"We were introduced to this beautiful spot by friends and loved it so much we booked to come back again just 2 months later. The yurts are gorgeous; huge amount of space, romantic wood burner, King sized bed, freshly made goodies on arrival! Shower facilities are great, hot tub is a magical touch - nothing quite like looking out over the harbour watching sunset with a glass of wine in your hand! " - (Emma and Adam Feb 2014)Whether you are already an experienced camper, or a novice waiting to be converted, yurt holidays are the perfect break.

With their beautiful solid structure and their all embracing ambience, you cannot help but become completely relaxed and in harmony with nature as soon as you step inside one. Here at Clifden, we have three handcrafted and individually decorated 16ft yurts, nestled within our secluded small holding; overlooking magnificent views of St. Aubin's Bay and reaching far beyond. We are a family run business offering guests a high quality of accommodation and facilities, whilst keeping things as environmentally friendly as possible, in keeping with our aim to maintain and protect our land.We are open all year round, so you can choose whether you fancy a spring, summer, autumn or winter break - Or perhaps you're thinking of a gift for friends or loved ones, and would like to purchase a voucher? Whatever time of year you book for, you can rest assured that you will be cosy in your yurt ...perhaps with the fire lit, absorbing the breath-taking views, and watching the stars at night, through the clear roof wheel.Yurts and FacilitiesInteriors Each of the three 16ft yurts is individually decorated with soft furnishings complementing the serene and tranquil atmosphere that overtakes you as soon as you set foot inside. 'Forest Green' has 2 green blending liners; 'Harbour Retreat' has opulent gold and cream liners; and 'Ship Ahoy' has 2 toning blue liners with a nautical theme. The furniture inside the yurts is a blend of old and new, with the older items having been lovingly restored. Some pieces have even been recycled and given a new purpose, for example former apple crates now act as bedside tables; ladders act as towel rails; and luggage trunks are used for storage. Keeping Warm Each of the yurts has a wood burning stove in, for those cool summer evenings or cold winter days. In fact you can make whatever excuse you like, because to stay in a yurt and not light the fire, is really missing a trick! (A basket of wood for the fire is supplied free of charge, but if you require anymore than this, there is a cost of £5 per basket). Sleeping 'Harbour Retreat' and 'Forest Green' have King Size beds in them, and therefore cater perfectly for 2 people sleeping.'Ship Ahoy' has a very comfortable double bed in it, and 2 equally comfy chair beds in order to accommodate a family of 4 people. The beds fold away easily, so that there is plenty of floor space for during the day. Alongside Ship Ahoy sits 'Pirate's Den' our mini Yurt. This can be used to sleep an extra 2 small people or as a playroom or even baggage storage. Bedding is provided for all 3 yurts, along with extra blankets; and extra pillows are available at your request. CateringEach yurt is equipped with a single gas burning stove in order to boil the kettle and make a hot drink. Full cooking facilities are located in a communal kitchen called 'The Lookout.'Welcome Packs Each yurt will receive a Welcome Pack on arrival, which contains the basics and some homemade luxuries to get your holiday off to a nice start! The packs contain the following: tea, coffee, hot chocolate, milk, sugar and a homemade treat! Outdoor Area Each yurt is positioned in its own personal hideaway, so that guests can truly relax and enjoy some privacy; and of course take in the beautiful views of St. Aubin's Bay and beyond. BBQs, picnic tables and benches, sunloungers and cosy handmade blankets are provided to enable you to enjoy the outdoor surroundings. A mixture of solar lights and tea lights also feature to give a gentle glowing light during the evenings. FacilitiesWashing and toileting A former 'Potato Shed' now houses a bathroom, comprising of three showers - one for the personal use of each yurt; along with a toilet and two wash basins. There is even a hair dryer for those of you who can't quite give up on such a luxury whilst being at one with nature! Toiletries are provided to enhance your shower experience, which have been chosen for their natural effect on your skin and for their kind effect on our water system.A sink for washing dishes, and a fridge/freezer are also located in the Potato Shed, which is positioned just behind the kitchen (The Lookout).Cooking/Eating'The Lookout' is our communal kitchen, fully equipped with 3 double gas burning stoves and grills to enable you to cook meals during your stay. There is a large range of cooking utensils and crockery, along with basic ingredients available to use. The design of the kitchen takes full advantage of the wonderful view of St. Aubin's bay, with a large fully opening window above the worktop, and tables inside and outside to eat at.The Lookout also contains some homemade products made from homegrown produce at Clifden e.g. jams and chutneys; and depending on the season, there are homegrown vegetables to buy. A handy well stocked supermarket is a 2 minute walk from the site at Clifden and if you would like to eat out, then St. Aubin offers some of the best eateries on the island, ranging from cafes, pubs and take-aways, to fine dining restaurants. Entertainment For those children and adults seeking entertainment on site, there are 2 'Treasure Chests' full of books, games and toys available to borrow. Hot TubFor that extra touch of luxury, come and relax in our hot tub, which is situated in an elevated location to maximise the stunning view of St. Aubin's Bay. When you've soaked for long enough, take advantage of the BBQ area alongside and continue your indulgence with fine food and possibly a sip of something special! The hot tub can seat up to 5 people and the charge for this facility and use of its surrounding area is £7 per hour. PowerThere are electrical sockets in the 'Potato Shed' for your convenience, but in keeping with our eco theme, and to create the right ambience, there is no power in or around the yurts. Instead we offer the gentle glow of candlelight, solar lighting and wind-up products. Carbon Emissions/Parking We cannot offer parking on site, but there is a bus service, bike hire, taxi rank and a purpose made walking path surrounding us! If you want to bring a car, there are several car parks in and around the village of St. Aubin, which are just a short walk from Clifden - please be aware that these can be busy during the high season and some of them charge an hourly rate of 66p between 8am and 5pm.
