About this campground
Albee Creek Campground occupies an idyllic setting on an old homestead site in Humboldt Redwoods State Park, five miles west of the Avenue of the Giants via Mattole Road. The 40 campsites are distributed between second-growth redwood groves and an open prairie meadow, offering varied camping experiences from shaded forest sites to sunlit meadow locations. The campground serves as an excellent base for exploring nearby Rockefeller Forest and numerous hiking and mountain biking trails. Swimming is available four miles east in the South Fork of the Eel River, while wading is permitted in Bull Creek and Albee Creek. Being located in bear country, all campers must properly store food and scented items in metal bear lockers or vehicles. The campground is staffed during summer season, and many visitors consider it their favorite campground in the park.
