About this campground
Turner Lake East Cabin is a 14x16 foot Pan Abode style cabin situated on the east end of Turner Lake, approximately 24 miles east of Juneau in the Tongass National Forest. The cabin sits on relatively flat, brushy terrain with a small sandy beach in front and provides breathtaking views of mountain cliffs, hanging glaciers, and numerous waterfalls cascading into the lake. The cabin accommodates up to 6 guests with 2 single wooden bunks and 2 double bunks. Amenities include a table and benches, oil stove with tank, cooking counter, food cupboards and shelves, cooler, broom and dustpan, and a pit toilet outhouse.

A skiff with oars is provided for exploring the lake, though guests must bring their own personal flotation devices. An outboard motor can be attached to the skiff if brought by guests. Recreational opportunities include fishing for cutthroat trout, Dolly Varden, and kokanee salmon. Wildlife viewing is excellent, with chances to spot bears, mountain goats, and various waterfowl. Mountain goat and bear hunting are permitted with appropriate permits during designated seasons. Salmonberries are available for picking in summer months. Water is available from the lake or nearby stream but must be treated before use. Guests should bring sleeping bags, sleeping pads, cooking equipment, lanterns, utensils, food, toilet paper, garbage bags, fire starter, and flotation devices. Fuel for the oil heater (#1 stove oil) is also required, with consumption of approximately 1 gallon per day on low setting.
