About this campground

Nelson is a gem of a city and offers many attractions and activities in all seasons. What makes it special is the combination of a spectacular natural environment (mountains and lake), heritage buildings, interesting people, and quirky culture scene. It’s a pretty unique package for a small town in western Canada! It’s well-known as a great place for skiing, hiking, mountain-biking and boating. The fishing can be great, but only sometimes. Our home is located just outside city limits. It’s a 4-minute drive, or half-hour walk to downtown. While the city is close, this is a thoroughly rural location. We’re on a north-facing slope that’s green and lush with deciduous vegetation.

The properties has garden areas of all kinds. If you’re a gardener, I’d love to chat! Depending on the season, there’s usually some garden-fresh produce we’d be happy to share. From the campsite, you can see the city lights twinkling. The spot is well below the road and there are trees and bushes that keep the site private. Suggested Local Attractions:Downtown Nelson Kootenay Lake - Lakeside Park Kokanee Creek Park - especially for fish spawning in August Kokanee Glacier Park - for amazing hiking and fun fishing Whitewater Ski Resort - for powder skiing Morning Mountain - mountain biking just a few km down the road Great restaurants! Excellent breweries and brewpubs, all recommended! Farmers Market on Summer Saturdays (Cottonwood Park) and Wednesdays (downtown). Usually late May to early October
