About this campground
Bo Wood Recreation Area spans 150 sites across gravel loops that accommodate RVs up to 90 feet, with full hookups available at $18-$48 per night from mid-April through late October. The Army Corps of Engineers facility sits on Lake Shelbyville's north shore, where campers can access sites by car, boat, or on foot. Sites feature level gravel pads with fire pits, picnic tables, and lantern posts. Many lakefront spots face the water, though vegetation limits lake views from most positions.

[Patricia D.](https://thedyrt.com/camping/illinois/bo-wood-lake-shelbyville/reviews/105873) notes the campground has "over 140 sites" with "a lot of shaded sites," though some full-hookup locations sit directly in sun. The facility includes separate dog parks for large and small pets, a boat ramp, fish cleaning station, and an amphitheater where rangers host children's programs. Campers report crowded conditions during peak season, with sites positioned closely together throughout most loops. Volunteer hosts stationed across different sections provide on-site assistance. Bathrooms feature private shower facilities, though reviewers mention poor ventilation during hot weather. The campground lacks roadway lighting after dark, creating navigation challenges.
