About this campground

Blind River Rapids Shelter is an 8' x 12' three-sided Adirondack-style shelter located along the Blind River Rapids Trail in the Petersburg Ranger District of Tongass National Forest. The rustic shelter sits on Mitkof Island and features built-in benches with a scenic view overlooking Blind Slough. Accessed via a trail from the Blind River Rapids Trailhead, the shelter provides basic backcountry accommodation in a temperate rainforest setting. This is a primitive dispersed camping shelter with no amenities. There is no water available at the shelter, and visitors must bring their own drinking water or be prepared to treat water from natural sources.
