About this campground
Blind River Rapids Shelter is an 8' x 12' three-sided Adirondack-style shelter located along the Blind River Rapids Trail in the Petersburg Ranger District of Tongass National Forest. The rustic shelter sits on Mitkof Island and features built-in benches with a scenic view overlooking Blind Slough. Accessed via a trail from the Blind River Rapids Trailhead, the shelter provides basic backcountry accommodation in a temperate rainforest setting. This is a primitive dispersed camping shelter with no amenities.
