The campground features 5 sites suitable for RVs up to 32 feet, each equipped with picnic tables and fire rings with cooking grills. The Yankee Fork provides excellent fishing for rainbow trout, making this a popular spot for anglers. The campground serves as an ideal base for exploring the rich gold mining history of the area. Visitors can tour the nearby ghost town of Custer, explore the Yankee Fork Gold Dredge, and drive the scenic Custer Motorway.

The Land of the Yankee Fork Interpretive Center, located south of Challis, offers additional historical context for the region's mining heritage. This is a basic, rustic campground with vault toilets and no potable water, so campers must bring their own water supply. The campground operates on a first-come, first-served basis with no advance reservations. Sites are available for just $5 per night, with Senior and Access pass holders receiving a 50% discount.
