About this campground
Upper Billy Creek Campground is located in the Sierra National Forest across the road from Huntington Lake at approximately 7,000 feet elevation. The campground features 43 campsites tucked beneath a grove of large cedar, fir, and pine trees, with 12 designated tent-only sites and the remainder accommodating RVs and trailers up to 30 feet. Some sites provide lake views while others overlook Billy Creek and its abundant wildflowers. The dirt parking spurs have significant sloping at many sites. The location serves as an excellent base for exploring the Kaiser Wilderness, with several trails nearby including Rancheria Falls (1 mile), Indian Pools (1 mile), and Black Point (0.7 miles).

Hikers and horseback riders can access the 12-mile Kaiser Loop Trail connecting to an extensive trail network within the wilderness. Huntington Lake offers swimming, sailing, boating, kayaking, fishing, and water skiing. The adjacent Billy Creek Guard Station Museum provides historical overviews of Huntington Lake, Native Americans, and Forest Service history. In summer, interpretive programs and nature walks are offered at the campground's amphitheater.
