About this campground
Bell Farm Horse Camp is located off Road 1363 in McCreary County and serves as a popular rest stop for wagon train riders and equestrian groups exploring the Stearns District of Daniel Boone National Forest. The campground features five group campsites, each accommodating 10-15 people, with fire rings, picnic tables, lantern posts, and tent pads. Rock Creek, designated as a Kentucky Wild River, flows alongside the camp and provides stock water for horses. The area has a storied past. In the early 1900s, this location was a bustling logging and mining town. During the 1930s, it transitioned into a Civilian Conservation Corps camp. The walnut trees visible today were planted in 1953.

Rock Creek is stocked with rainbow trout from March through June and September through December, and a Kentucky fishing license is required. The nearest extensive hiking and horse trails are in the adjacent Big South Fork National River and Recreation Area. This is a primitive camping experience with no potable water available on-site and vault toilets. The campground operates first-come, first-served with no fees or reservations required. Equestrians must comply with Kentucky Department of Agriculture requirements, including a negative Coggins test for equine infectious anemia and a valid certificate of veterinary inspection.
