There is a thriving market here on Mondays, or you can enjoy the Old House Museum displaying 500 years of history and with a recent Derbyshire Museum of the Year award under its belt. An arts festival with concerts, theatre, poetry, street performance and more is held here in August. The old railway track between Bakewell and Buxton is now the Monsal Trail and Tunnels. The trail has been extended recently and cyclists, walkers and horse riders can now go through the former Midland Railway Tunnels that were closed for more than 30 years. There are several Nature Reserves to explore in the area. Haddon Hall is an unspoilt, fortified medieval and Tudor manor house with terraced rose gardens and is still home to the Manners family, which has owned it since 1567. Buxton is known for its annual opera, music and literature festival and its spa water. Crich Tramway Village is home to the National Tramway Museum. Toys of Yesteryear is a museum and toyshop that holds vintage toy demonstrations regularly. The Heights of Abraham includes a cable car above the Derwent Valley and guided tours around the famous Show Caverns. The Arbor Low stone circle is a Neolithic henge monument atmospherically set in high moorland, now managed by English Heritage. Youlgreave is the nearest village to the campsite. A mile away, it has a Post Office, two butchers and three pubs. The limited facilities at this site - there is no toilet or shower block - mean that it is one of the most peaceful sites in the Club's network, even during the school holidays.DirectionsOS Map Ref: 119 - SK206632Lat: 53.1641 Long: -1.69430Ignore satnav, stay on main A6 and turn on toB5056 to miss tricky, narrow roads.
