About this campground

Badin Lake Campground borders the lakeshore of 5,000-acre Badin Lake in central North Carolina's Uwharrie National Forest, offering a shaded retreat within a dense forest of pines and hardwoods. The campground operates year-round and features two loops totaling 35 non-electric sites, many situated directly on the waterfront. Each site includes a picnic table, fire ring with grill, lantern post, and tent pad. Flush toilets and hot showers are conveniently located in both the upper and lower loops, and drinking water is accessible throughout the campground. Sites 17 and 19 are reserved for first-come, first-served campers.

Badin Lake Recreation Area serves as a hub for outdoor activities in the region. The lake is popular for swimming, boating, and fishing for bass, bream, crappie, and catfish. A boat ramp is located 2 miles from the campground. On land, approximately 40 miles of non-motorized trails accommodate horseback riding, mountain biking, and hiking, while 17 miles of motorized trails are available for off-road vehicle enthusiasts. The surrounding national forest also offers hunting opportunities for big and small game. The campground's location in the Piedmont region means mild spring and fall weather with temperatures in the 60s and 70s, hot and humid summers reaching the upper 80s and 90s, and cool winters with lows in the 30s and highs in the 50s. Periodic prescribed burns may occur near the facility, potentially affecting air quality during and after burning operations.
