About this campground
Badger Flat Campground is located along Kaiser Pass Road above Huntington Lake in the Sierra National Forest at an elevation of over 8,000 feet. The campground features 15 first-come, first-served campsites situated along a large sandy area adjacent to Rancheria Creek, shaded by fir trees on open, flat land. Each site is equipped with a grill, fire ring, and picnic table. The campground serves as a trailhead for the Kaiser Wilderness and provides access to the California Riding and Hiking Trail, making it an excellent base for backcountry exploration. Rancheria Creek offers a sandy wading area for relaxation. While horses are permitted, no equestrian facilities are available.

The campground has a light usage level, providing a quiet and isolated camping experience. Huntington Lake is approximately 5 miles away, offering additional recreational opportunities including hiking, fishing for rainbow and brown trout or kokanee salmon, boating, and swimming. Services are available at nearby China Peak Landing General Store, Lakeshore Resort, and Rancheria Enterprises, though cell service is limited to the Huntington Lake area.
