About this campground
Elk Flat Campground is the first camping area visitors encounter when approaching Cave Lake State Park from Highways 93, 50, and 6. Located at 7,300 feet elevation in the Schell Creek Range adjacent to Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest, the campground offers 18 level campsites suitable for both tents and RVs. Each site includes a fire pit with grill, picnic table, and parking space. The campground provides modern amenities including flush toilets and hot showers during the operating season. Potable water is available throughout the campground, and an RV dump station is located nearby. Access roads to campsites are unpaved.

The park offers excellent opportunities for trout fishing in the 32-acre reservoir, hiking on four developed trails, and wildlife viewing including elk, mule deer, and various bird species. The camping limit is seven days within any 30-day period. Pets are permitted on leashes no longer than six feet. Gathering firewood is prohibited. Day use entrance fees are $5 for Nevada vehicles and $10 for non-Nevada vehicles. Camping fees are $15 per night for Nevada vehicles and $20 per night for non-Nevada vehicles.
