Playa Icacos is one of those places that sounds like a dream when you try to explain it to others: \"We released 200 baby sea turtles into the ocean, had lunch in the mountains with a family who grows everything they eat, came back to watch whales playing in the sunset, released more baby sea turtles into the ocean, drank basil margaritas, went for a moonlight stroll on the beach, and fell asleep to the sound of waves and the cool breeze blowing through our open air hut\". This 8 cabana boutique property joins warm Mexican hospitality and a sense of family with privacy and a space to BE. There are numerous activities ranging from cooking classes (amazing chefs here!) to visits to local pueblos to horse back riding on the beach and so much more. There is also space for nothing but lying on the beach all day with your favorite novel, swimming in the warm ocean, practicing yoga & meditation, and long walks on an endless beach where you are likely to see no one but the occasional fisherman. We saw whales on 2 of the 4 days we were there, and participated in the liberating of hundreds of baby sea turtles every day. The beautifully presented local and international cuisine was an absolute delight, each meal a surprise, presented with such care and love by the staff. Vegetarian and vegan options were to die for! (coconut ceviche was my fave). The accommodations are top notch - organic cotton sheets, towels, home made soap, incredible ocean and jungle views from all cabanas as you fall asleep to the sound if the waves, feeling like a queen! (or king!) Abram and Olga made the most delicious meals, we were blown away and could not have been more pleased with the quality of the food and cooking!
