Park Farm is situated in the heart of the Sussex countryside, easily accessed from the A21 and other major routes but in an idyllic setting on 18 acres surrounded by our own farmland and adjoining the River Rother, along which a riverside walk leads you to the fairytale 14th Century Bodiam Castle, the Kent and Sussex Steam Railway and the Castle Inn Pub\.Our family have run the campsite for 35 years and we pride ourselves on offering you the best of camping as you remember it – a relaxed atmosphere, big pitches ideal for groups if you are here with friends, lots of space for field games, free fishing on the River Rother, miles of walks and footpaths and your own campfire at the end of the day…\.but of course with all the mod cons such as new showers and toilets, electric hook\-ups for those of you who like your comforts, plus great play areas for the kids both indoors and outside, and on site caretakers to make sure you have a great stay\.More about usPark Farm is a mixed working farm of some 700 acres\. We have been farming here since the 1960’s and have participated in many conservation schemes including the Countryside Stewardship Scheme and we are active in planting trees, creating special areas for birds and insects, and we also have many rare plants on the farm\. The landscape is varied as we have fields running down to the River Rother with a wonderful walk along the banks, and we also have mature woodland and old coppice\.We have a dairy herd of 120 cows and raise our own young stock, and we also grow arable crops but keep some areas aside for wildlife\. It offers an ideal site to erect tents, teepees, yurts or a large marquee with sweeping views across open countryside\. There is mains water in the field and we can provide contact details of local hire companies for all the additional facilities you may require\. The cost is from £1000 for the weekend plus a £200 returnable deposit provided the site is left free of rubbish or damage when you leave\.Conditions of booking include:• Amplified music must be switched off no later than 11pm• Sky lanterns are strictly forbidden• The party/individuals will not hold the owners liable for any claim whether for loss, damage or injury to person or property while on the site or farm\.Useful Information The campsite is 3 miles south of Hawkhurst, a thriving village with both Tescos and Budgens and two local butchers, a local baker, a chemist and a range of takeaway restaurants, as well as a petrol station, banks and cash machines and a cinema\. There are also several pubs and restaurants\.Places to Visit We are fortunate to have many places of interest nearby, whether your preference is historic landmarks, gardens or fun with the children\.BodiamOnly a 20 minute riverside walk from Park Farm, visitors can drop in on the Castle Inn, which has family facilities\. Or why not have a cuppa in the local tearooms or pop in to the local gift shop, in the grounds of Bodiam Castle or visit the steam railway\.Bodiam Castle and other National Trust PropertiesAs well as the deservedly famous Bodiam Castle, there are several other National Trust properties within easy reach\. These include the wonderful gardens at Sissinghurst Castle; Smallhythe Place at Tenterden; Scotney Castle at Lamberhurst and Batemans in Burwash\.Other Gardens and visitor attractionsThe famous gardens at Great Dixter are a short drive away and Pashley Manor Gardens at Ticehurst is also open to the public\. Battle Abbey managed by English Heritage incorporates the site of the Battle of Hastings in 1066 and the ruins of the Benedictine abbey founded by William the Conqueror soon after\.Steam RailwayA popular attraction for families and a must for steam railway enthusiasts, the Kent and East Sussex Railway operates between Bodiam and Tenterden\. VineyardsThe South East is becoming well\-known for its vineyards and the quality of English wines produced here\. Several offer tastings and tours, like Carr Taylor Vineyards at Westfield\. The Lamberhurst Vineyards also have a childrens' zoo\.Sports and FishingThere are many places to fish in East Sussex and Kent, but the nearest lake to Park Farm is Hawkhurst Fish Farm, where day tickets are available\. Fishing and water sports fans can also head to Bewl Water\.
