Selected as this small site located in the small village of Palau\-del\-Vidre, 7km from the beaches at Argelès, is a fabulously verdant spot and a haven of peace and quiet\. It is a real contrast to the large more commercial sites on the beach\. It is set in the grounds of an old hunting lodge designed on the lines of a small Italianate palace\. The pitches are laid out among an amazing assortment of trees and shrubs, with a lovely weeping willow hanging over the little duck pond\. The owners' passion for gardening allows you to appreciate over a hundred species of Mediterranean and tropical plants with their wonderful fragrances and colours\. They have recently cut back some of the trees and extended some of the pitches\. The buildings all painted in a local terracotta colour complement to green surroundings perfectly\. It is a family run site with a warm friendly atmosphere and a complete contrast to the busy coastal sites\. It could easily merit 4 stars if it had more washbasins in individual cubicles\. Very occasional noise from trains but not at night\.
