With us, you will get pre\-erected bell tents with comfortable real mattress beds and homely décor\. The bell tents are pitched in among the trees on level ground and each tent has its own firepit\. There are only 9 tents on the 10 acre site so there is plenty of space to relax, play and enjoy\. We provide a communal kitchen, luxury showers and toilets\. We supply each bell tent with some complimentary logs for your first camp fire \(extra can be purchased on site\)\. Our on site shop sells local produce including local honey and fresh eggs, grilled paninis, tea and barista coffees and cold drinks; you can buy kindling and firewood for your outdoor feasts as well\. The campsite is away from a busy main road, the perfect place for adults to relax and unwind, for kids to explore and run around, and for pets to enjoy\. There is plenty for children to do at Oak Lodge, and every morning at 10am is Animal Hour where you can come and experience feeding and petting the animals\. You can also hose down the pigs, hand feed the goats and chickens and say hello to the snake\. Animal Hour is run by Mathilda, who can tell you all about the animals\. This is a great experience for all children to get up close to all sort of animals, native and not, and it’s for children of all ages\! Our animals cost a lot to look after so we have listed this experience as an extra that you can choose when booking\. We had 6 children with us as well. The weather was perfect and some people let off some fireworks on Saturday night, after respectfully asking if we minded, which added to the experience. \r\nThe bell tents are well equipped and have enough electric to charge phones. Outside they all have picnic tables, barbecues, and fire pits. You will need to bring camping chairs or loungers and charcoal although they may sell it. Every tent has a stock of wood but it’s only £4 to top up. Everything else is provided. We had our own camping stoves and kettle, as going across to the caravan kitchen is a bit much if you just want a cuppa. We loved the little cafe run by the daughters of the owners and one morning we lost our 3 year old to find she was painting stones in the cafe. The plane in the tree and the ship were a great success with the children and they all went feral, finding they could do without sleep for three nights.\r\nIt was very hot but there are plenty of trees for shade and a large dome if it rains, as a party type area. The showers, toilets and washing up facilities are clean and luxurious. You can visit horses, chickens, geese and cats\r\nThere are amazing details, like animals carved into the bigger fire pits. Overall an amazing experience. \r\nLess than 10 miles there is St. Helens picnic site with a child friendly, shallow river for paddling, kayaks and paddle boards set in the forest, and I recommend the walks in the forest centre. We did the musical walk on the last day. \r\nOverall loads to recommend it.
