About this campground
鹿児島県の離島・奄美大島の最西端の集落西古見（にしこみ）にある町営キャンプ場「西古見GATE」。西古見小中学校の跡地にできた西古見GATEの周りは木々に囲まれた空間。キャンプ場にサウナ付きの浴場が併設されおり、ゆっくり休むことができます。集落と山の間にある西古見GATEは、気持ち良い風が吹き抜けます。また、夜には天の川や流れ星を浴場の上にある展望台から観察することができます。さらに、キャンプ場から車で2分のところにはビーチがあり、釣りやシュノーケルなどのマリンアクティビティも楽しめます。奄美の外れ、大自然のとなりに。こんな西の外れにつくったのは、手つかずの自然がたくさん残っているから。知ってほしい文化と歴史があるから。ここまで来たら、まわりは体験の宝庫。
