> Human version: https://campertunity.com/listings/campgrounds/manor-farm-dartmouth-devon

Naturist\-friendly camping is available at Manor Farm, Strete\. Tents and tourers welcome\. Manor Farm Camping Site , Strete is situated on Totnes Road, just between the 40mph and the 20mph limit\. There are approximately 6 acres available for camping\. The fields are level or gently sloping with some shelter and a good view of the sea – Start Bay towards the mouth of the Dart\.Strete is in an area of outstanding natural beauty, to the east of Slapton Sands with Torcross at the western end\. All this stretch of coastline is included in the South West long distance coastal footpath\.Strete is a peaceful haven from which to travel further afield to Dartmoor, Plymouth and Torbay and a day trip into Cornwall, across the Tamar is well within reach\.Near at hand the shingle ridge of Slapton Sands has the sea on one side and the fresh water Slapton Ley, wild bird sanctuary on the other\. The three mile long beach comprises, east to west, Pilchards Cove, Strete Gate, Slapton Bridge and Torcross and is served by three car parks\. Pilchards Cove is well known by naturists, acceptance being on an informal basis and a degree of discretion\. Nowhere else along this stretch of beach are naked bodies accepted\. \(Pilchards Cove is the only naturist beach in the area and does NOT include Landcombe Cove\.\)Blackpool Sands, privately run, is two miles east towards Dartmouth and caters for families\. There are water sports facilities and a restaurant run by Venus Cafes\. No dogs are allowed on Blackpool sands\.Dartmouth, five miles away, is an ancient port and home of Britannia Royal Naval College – sea fishing trips, river cruises and the Sailing Regatta \(complete with fireworks and usually the Red Arrows\) at the end of August\.Kingsbridge, ten miles west, is an old market town at the head of Salcombe estuary – with river cruises, sailing in the estuary and a very large sports hall with special course available and various courts for hire as well as a really good swimming pool\.Totnes, twelve miles north, is an ancient town, at the head of the Dart, dominated by Totta’s Ness \(the Castle\) with town wall walks, a swimming pool and its well loved alternative market every Friday\.Facilities:Manor Farm camping provides a kitchen for use by campers\. The area comes equipped with a cooker, fridge, freezer, and washing machine\. The cooker and washing machine are on coin operated meters, the cooker takes fifty pence pieces and the washing machine takes one pound coins\. There are also sinks available for washing up and food preparation\. The shower block has four walk in shower rooms\. The showers run on timing meters\. The shower block also has four toilets with wash hand basins\.The site has a TV and information room, where information can be found about the local tourist attractions and activities\. You can also find out what the weather could be like in the area during your visit\.The Plantation field, can be used by visitors to walk their dogs\. \(please clean up after your dog\)A customer review:"\.\.\.a really good site, with what must be unique co\-existence in this country\. Large field with views to the sea \- top two thirds of site textile, bottom third naturist, with just an open post and rail fence to mark an informal division\. No gates, and the fence is open to drive / walk round at both ends\. Very easygoing and relaxed\. All facilities, apart from a fresh water tap, are on the textile side, so need to dress to access them\."History of Manor Farm CampingManor Farm has had a camping site for well over 60 years and since 1945 it has been run by the same family\. My family came to Strete during the return after ‘The Evacuation’ following in the footsteps of the Bowdens, the previous occupiers\. I can recall as a very small child, supplying eggs and milk to campers calling at the farmhouse and selling “penneth’s” worth of rationed meat in the butcher’s shop attached to the house\. Campers also came to the house to use our outside ‘earth closet’ toilet\. Progress is such that our first campers occupied fields as variously named as The Plat \(now houses\) then Quillet \(home of the sewerage works\), followed by Doctor’s – the village football field \(now Start Bay Park\)\. Next came the ‘aeroplane field’ behind Hyne Town from where campers used the old school toilets which were part of the then Stable Door Restaurant\. In the early 1980’s camping moved to the present site – Bonfire and New Park – and in July 1986 toilets and showers were provided\. Families have always been welcome and have appreciated the informal and friendly atmosphere\. Since personally being in charge, now nine years, I have been given great pleasure by camping returnees\. One elderly couple had been coming for over 45 years and they remembered me as a young girl\! They are now great grandparents\! Regularly large extended families return\. One year four families of three generations stayed with us, having a large family reunion\. They and many people like them keep coming back year after year\.We have cause to celebrate at least three generations of satisfied customers\. They come because it is peaceful, \(yes, even with children\), beautiful and unspoilt\.I would like to welcome you to a long tradition\.
