This was a shady situation. We ended up going to a real campground. I would have left except to dark to come down mountain plus nowhere to stay. This is smaller than a turnoff for slow traffic on a road. I have photos as well. He dumped some gravel on the side of the road of an unbuildable lot. You could not put out an awning or rug. On the other side you had less than 5 feet before falling off a steep incline. There is no house or anything. The “view” is a long way away to a lake you can see through the trees. Totally totally unsafe and Hipcamp should totally remove this listing. I have requested a refund and received no word from him so I will stop the credit card charges with my photos. Fyi i was only in a class b van. Did not sleep most of the night and left once light enough. Since I had no address until the booking I could not Google the site. Plus it is a ways up the mountain and then on a gravel road. It is also like 11 miles outside of Ellijay which is also not disclosed. Total scam!! One neighbor within sight, a rental cabin. No traffic, etc.\n-Very dark. Stargazing might be quite good on a clear night, but I had rain. A few lights visible through the trees.\n-Very secluded. I saw two people total. One was a dog walker, one was the bug guy servicing another rental cabin.\n\nThe downsides:\n-Most disappointing was the lake access. To see the lake, it's a quarter mile walk down the gravel road, a quarter mile path through the woods, and a couple hundred yards bushwhacking down a 25-degree slope. That's just to get a clear view.\n-To get in the water would take, you would \"take a rope or strap\" (host's suggestion) for the last 25 feet to I guess repel down the embankment and the pull yourself back up. I didn't try it.\n-If you're drawn in by the chance to swim, paddle, fish, or bathe in the lake, you will have a time getting your gear to and especially from the water. \n-This seems like the beginning of a construction site. The gravel pad is beside the gravel road, although there is no traffic to speak of. Flat, but not level by several degrees. It is literally a wide place in the road to park.\n-The fire pit is actually a construction site trash fire pile with logs piled up by a bulldozer and wood scraps thrown in. It's 50' downhill from the pad.\n\nSo, if you want an out of the way place with hardly anyone around, with chances of serious bushwhacking and only your gear to entertain you, this might work." } ] }
