We were lucky and scored a great spot for our group close to the path to the river and under a fair amount of shade. The path down to the river is quite steep but it's short and once you're down there it's stunning. The river water was cool but not freezing and it was a nice mix of shallow and deeper areas for swimming. We spent hours down there each day! The available kayaks were awesome for the kids (gold coin donation for use). The toilets were kept clean and we only spotted a couple of cow pats as we set up the tent. We saw zero cows the whole weekend. I guess since we were there on the long weekend the owners might have kept the cows in while the site was quite busy. Couldn't find any of the free advertised firewood on site (probably due to busy long weekend) so we travelled 10 minutes into Richmond to purchase some. The road out of the campsite is very steep and we were worried with our heavy trailer whether we'd make it up there with just our AWD (not big 4WD) but it was actually fine.
