Higher Rew is a family run park in an area of outstanding natural beauty close to the beautiful Salcombe Estuary\. Three generations of the Squire family have, over many years, created a relaxed caravan and camping park for your enjoyment\.We are annually inspected by the English Tourism Council, who have awarded our park four stars and have been featured in both the Lonely Planet and Rough Guides\.More About UsHigher Rew is a family run park in an area of outstanding natural beauty close to the beautiful Salcombe Estuary\. Three generations of the Squire family have, over many years, created a relaxed caravan and camping park for your enjoyment\. We cater for couples and families and have geared our facilities with this in mind, there is no onsite bar or club just some play facilities for the children and lots of beautiful countryside to enjoy\!How we help the environmentWe continue to develop our site with the environment in mind\. In 1992 we planted a small copse behind the site which continues to flourish\. In 2008 we installed solar powered hot water heaters to drastically reduce our energy demands and at the end of 2012 we installed photovoltaic cells to help reduce our electricity demands still further\. We also offer full recycling facilities\.History of Higher RewHigher Rew Farm was bought by John Squire during the 1950s\. It remained as a dairy farm operated by two of his sons, Malcolm and Ian Squire until 2000\. John began to accept campers on to ‘The Meadow’ not long after acquiring the farm and he continued to do so for 30 years whilst also running the farm\. It was not until 1985 that John and his wife Valerie took on the campsite full time when Malcolm and Ian took over the farm\.John and Valerie retired in 1998 and since then the site has been run by Malcolm, Sue and Ian along with occasional help from their offspring\!The site continues to be very busy, particularly in the summer holidays but it will remain a small, family orientated and friendly site for many years to come\.The ParkThe Park is approximately 5 acres of well kept, gently sloping grassland\. It has been terraced to provide 90 level pitches, most of which have views across South Sands valley\. The fields above the park can be used by our guests for dog\-walking, kite\-flying or just sitting and enjoying the countryside\.There are six water points on the park and only twenty pitches at the far end do not have access to electricity\.The facilities are all located in traditional farm buildings at the entrance to the park with the exception of the shop/reception which is in a wooden chalet\. Both the ladies and gents toilets have been fully refurbished during 2006/7 to a very high standard\. The showers were refurbished in 2008 together with the installation of solar panels to provide hot water\.The Park is approximately 1 mile from South Sands which is ideal for boating, sailing and windsurfing, as well as safe bathing\. A ferry runs from South Sands to Salcombe Town\. Soar Mill, a sandy cove is within walking distance and several sandy beaches are within easy reach by car\. The Coastal Path and other beautiful walks can be reached via public footpaths from the Park\.Facilities\- The Park of 5 Acres is gently sloping but has been terraced to provide level pitches 70 of which have electric hook\-ups available\.\- Frequently cleaned, recently refurbished ladies & gents toilets\.\- Hair drying and shaver points\.\- Showers with thermostatically controlled temperature\.\- Free hot water at all sinks and basins\.\- Laundry room with washing machine, deep sinks, iron & ironing boards\.\- Indoor dish washing facilities\.\- Play barn with table tennis, skittle alley and pool table\.\- Covered play area for children under 11 years\.\- Tennis court available for hire\.\- Plenty of open space for children to play\.\- Pay phone\.\- Ice pack freezing facilities and ice pack rental\.\- Camping & Calor Gas stocked\.\- Well stocked shop, newspapers available to order \(high season\)\- Book exchange\.\- Dogs welcome on the park if kept on lead\.
