If you stay here make sure to manually input the directions in the GPS.\n\nThe good: the site is beautiful. The Arkansas River is stunning, the river keeps the site cool, produces an endless supply of driftwood, and bugs aren't bad because the water moves fast. It's shady and much more comfortable than the drive in sites look.\n\nThe bad: this is not a private site. They seem to send 4 rafts down the river every hour and they can see your whole camp site. There's a giant light on the campground that obscures the stars. People hike down from the drive up sites to fish on the shore by your campsite.\n\nThe meh: playground was so uninspired we didn't bother showing it to our 4 and 6 year old. Parking across the campground prevents packing out at night. My T-mobile phone had a roaming signal. The port-a-potties were in need of cleaning for the first two days and finally got it the day before we left. My guess is with the large troop next to us they needed an extra cleaning. Overall, I found nothing about this site that would entice me back. It wasn’t what I was hoping my kid’s first Colorado camping experience would be and was too expensive for the difficulty of the site with lack of privacy.
