Birdspotters will be excited by the buzzards, owls and kingfishers that have been seen by previous guests\. Glottenham offers eco\-glamping in 4 units at the main Glottenham Castle site from Easter til October, plus 12 'pick where you pitch' camping spots in the valley fields during August\. The campingsite is a beautiful, quiet, old school 'turn up and pitch' 10 acre long field in the valley, with a wetlands full of dragonflies to explore behind, and a stream to paddle in\. It is a no frills back to basics site \- we have two standpipes of fresh drinking water, a HOT safari shower, and a double composting toilet\. There is an onsite honesty shop where you can buy firewood, kindling and charcoal, and you can hire a fire pit\. We have a low number of pitches because we like our guests to have plenty of space to enjoy the peace of the countryside without being crowded by others\. There is plenty to do in the area \- from enjoying a cream tea with alpacas with our friends at Fisherwood Farm in the Village, to paddleboarding, wild swimming and kayaking at historic Bodiam Castle\. We had plenty of room to enjoy ourselves. Fires are limited to fire pits, available along with the wood at the honesty shop, this is nice touch as there aren’t scorch marks all over the field from previous fires. Over all, a quiet, pretty campsite with a very relaxed atmosphere. Also, a lovely, hot shower in the bamboo lined outdoor cubicle was very nice. We were able to purchase wood for camp shop (a tent) on site. The one shower is large and warm and powerful enough to wake you up. The wooden compost toilets were not far, one didn't have a step up so hard to use but cleaned regularly. There were toilets in a tent like structure, think they had been there sometime so wasn't keen to use. One tap on site for water but it's a back basics camp site experience so there's no washing up stations or sinks. If you don'tind you'll enjoy this site very much. The family field is large, with plenty of space. Our kids enjoyed roaming around and exploring the woods and stream.
