Garlieston Lodge is situated in the village of Garlieston\. The Lodge was originally built in the 1800's as a Gate Lodge for Galloway House, the seat of the Earl of Galloway and sits in its own 5 acres of woodland with a small river running through it\. The river feeds into our small ¾ acre trout fishery populated with rainbow, brown and brook trout, we also have a small breeding herd of rare breed Large Blacks Britain’s only all black pigs\. On the rest of the small holding we have free range hens, geese and ducks\. Wild deer can often be seen in the morning drinking from our fishery\.Garlieston Harbour is steeped in maritime history and is the birth place of the famous floating Mulberry Harbours\. The coastline at Wigtown Bay is home to an internationally recognised conservation reserve, important for wintering whooper swans, pink\-footed geese, pintail and curlew\.Garlieston is the ideal place to spend a holiday or weekend break\. The harbour village has two shops, \(one of which is also a post office\) a bowling green and tennis courts\. But most importantly a pub offering good homely food and excellent hospitality\.The Harbour, which is less than a minutes walk away from the Lodge, provides an excellent slipway to launch from and enjoy the Wigtown Bay estuary\.\.Camping & CaravanningOur Campsite is a Camping and Caravanning Club Certificated Site and is Adults Only\. It’s the ideal place for a quiet break as we only take 5 vans & 3 tents\. All our Motorhome & Caravan pitches are hard standing and all our Tent pitches are on free draining gravel all\-weather pitches\. All have 16 amp electric hook\-up available\.The site sits with a small river on one side open fields on the other and overlooks our ¾ acre trout fishery and woods\.If you want to fish, cycle, ramble, bird watch, sight see or just chill out our site has it all\.DirectionsApproaching Garlieston on the B7004 proceed into the village\. Turn right into HIGH STREET next to the PLAY PARK and proceed past the POST OFFICE, just after the POST OFFICE the road bares LEFT instead of turning left, carry straight on across the junction watching out for traffic on your left\.The gates for Garlieston Lodge can be seen straight in front of you\.IMPORTANT: DO NOT come up Burnsides Lane from the Harbour Car Park / Boat Park End as you will have difficulty tuning into the site through the gates from that direction and you may have to reverse all the way back down\.
