The hosts were super communicative and accommodating--meeting us at check in to give the lay of the land and depositing a jug of potable water down at the site before we arrived. You cannot tell that there are houses nearby, as the short walk to the site creates enough distance. It was a dreamy spot beneath pines to pitch our tent and hang our hammock. Being right on the river was a plus, and we even saw the resident beaver. A pop up privy housed the bucket toilet, well stocked with wood shavings and toilet paper, and the outdoor shower was a real haven during our rainy stay. The site is far back from the property and the hosts provided us with a gorilla cart to get our stuff to the site. The cart made the trek super easy, and it was a great way to adventure with our little humans. I’m guessing it’s a couple hundred yards to the site? We passed the chicken coop and the kids slide/swing on the way, which made it super fun for our kids each time. The site itself is all off on its own. There was no one around and we enjoyed the seclusion. During the day you can hear cars pass by on occasion, just like at any state park. At night we enjoyed the frogs croaking and nature sounds, but it was otherwise silent ( no nearby campers like you might at the state park). The site is huge, and peaceful, and super well maintained. Joe was beyond kind to clear out some thorns that our toddler immediately (embarrassingly) gravitated to. We were super appreciative of the composting toilet with the tent around it too! I can’t say enough good things about our holiday weekend away. It was the perfect, local getaway for our little family. They were very hospitable, courteous, and responsive. The property is clean and well maintained. The camp is at the back of the property, and tucked away in the trees providing privacy. Its spacious with conservation land just on the other side of the river, so there's plenty of wildlife around.
